Dr. Mike Nelson became the owner of Eagles Peak Animal Clinic in June of 2016 following the retirement of Dr. Ostrich. Dr. Nelson obtained his degree in veterinary medicine from the University of Wisconsin in 2003, and continues to further his education by regularly attending seminars and researching the latest products, medications, and surgical techniques in the veterinary field. He is a lover of all animals great and small, and as such will say that he has no favorite breed or species. He wanted to become a veterinarian not only for his love of animals, but for the science behind the medicine as well.
Dr. Nelson has been married to his best friend, Kristen, since 1996, and together they have six children: Dani, Joe, Sam, David, Maddie, and Abby. He currently resides in Lebanon County with his family, where he is an active member of his church and involved with his local boy scout troop. In his spare time, Dr. Nelson enjoys spending quality time with his wife and kids, and is also an avid cyclist, woodworker, and lover of raising snakes and other reptiles. His pets include a black lab named Jeter, a chocolate lab named Teancum, a tortoise named Tank, and several snakes who don’t have a specified name.
Dr. Nelson is also the owner of Mahoning Valley Animal Hospital, and while his busy schedule may prevent him from seeing clients full time at Eagles Peak, rest assured that he will continue to ensure that the the highest standard of veterinary care be practiced at the clinic. He will also be around on select Saturdays and Wednesdays to see appointments and help educate you on all things animal related, perform surgical procedures, and help you make decisions regarding your pet’s health if ever there is a need.
